Lost and "Heroes" Stop by Comic-Con
Lost and Heroes both stopped by San Diego's Comic-Con this year to reach out to their fans. The shows, both pending new seasons, came to the comic book convention with different goals.
Lost was the silent giant in the room with the show's most recent season speaking for itself. Its panel at Comic-Con included executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, as well as Matthew Fox, who plays the role of Jack on the show. According to the Chicago Tribune, the Lost panel seemed to have nothing to prove, answering fans' questions when asked, and giving away Lost merchandise to its eager followers. In true Lost fashion, fans were also treated to exclusive video clips and given hints regarding the eagerly awaited next season.
Meanwhile, the Heroes panel was something quite different. While Lost showed up at the convention riding on a wave caused by the shockwave that was its last season, Heroes was there to renew its fans' faith in the show, following a rather shaky second season.
Desperate times call for desperate measures and the panel dropped a bomb on its fans when it unveiled the premiere of the show's upcoming third season. Fans, who had camped overnight just to get into the convention's vast Hall H, were able to watch the episode in full, as well as gawk at the show's entire cast.
Comic-Con is a great platform for media like TV shows to promote themselves. The convention is in a way a hub of the entertainment industry that surfaces briefly each year, providing exposure for upcoming shows, movies, games and more. One of the biggest promotion tools linked to Comic-Con is the onslaught of visitors that subsequently blog about the convention afterwards, enlightening the rest of the online community.
