LaBeouf's Hand Injury Delays Transformers Sequel
Transformers star Shia LaBeouf, who sustained a hand injury following a traffic collision last week, will have to take a month off before he can continue work on the Transformers sequel.
LaBeouf, known for his roles in Transformers and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, injured himself when he flipped his car over early Sunday morning. The crash happened when LaBeouf tried to turn left at an intersection, but instead collided with another car, causing his own vehicle to flip, reported Reuters.
According to the Daily News, when officials arrived on the scene, LaBeouf demonstrated clear signs of intoxication. He originally faced felony charges, but was eventually sent away with a misdemeanor DUI. This happened after Sheriff's deputies determined that the injuries he and his female passenger sustained were minor.
According to the Daily News, the accident caused the actor to injure his head, knee and hand, with the latter being the most problematic. "Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of Transformers 2 within one month," read a statement from LaBeouf's publicist and lawyers.
LaBeouf will star in the Transformers sequel, titled Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Directed by Michael Bay, the film was set to resume filming on Monday in L.A., however, now LaBeouf will have to wait until his hand has fully recovered before he can step in front of the cameras once more.
