Lewis Black's Root of All Evil Returns

Lewis Black's Root of All Evil returns for its second season this Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. on Comedy Central.

Outspoken comedian Lewis Black returns to form Wednesday with the second season of Lewis Black's Root of All Evil on Comedy Central at 10:30 p.m.

Black's show uses an open debate setting in which comedians humorously pit pop culture against one another in order to determine which is more evil. Black is the arbiter who ultimately evaluates the topic that is more evil.

In the premiere episode of the second season, comedians Patton Oswalt, the voice of Remi from the film, Ratatouille, and Andrew Daly, an alum of Mad TV, will present the case of Ultimate Fighting vs. Bloggers.

Future episodes will feature comedians Greg Giraldo, Paul F. Tompkins, and Kathleen Madigan debating diverse topics such as Sororities, Scientology, and the NRA.

The series, which is created and produced by Scott Carter of Politically Incorrect and Real Time with Bill Maher, is structured in the form of a court case. Black introduces the topics in a monologue, which is followed by "Opening Statements," the first opportunity for comedians to state their case. Once "Opening Statements" are concluded, "Debate" ensues. During "Debate," comedians provide verbal and video evidence to strengthen their case and to cast doubt on their opponent's case. Black then grills the comedians in "Inquisition," after which the comedians predict the consequences that will befall humanity if their evil is left unchecked, in "Ripple of Evil." Finally, the comedians present their "Closing Statements" to hit their message home, and Black renders his "Final Verdict."
