Rodriguez Claims Accusations About Affairs Are "Impertinent"

The baseball player claims his marriage is over, but claims "fault" is irrelevant.

Alex Rodriguez agrees with his wife's statements about their marriage being over, but claims that her allegations of his extramarital affairs are not relevant to the end of their marriage, the Associated Press reports.

The All-Star third baseman for the New York Yankees revealed in court documents in Miami on Thursday that his five-year long marriage to wife Cynthia Rodriguez is "irretrievably broken." While Cynthia has recently revealed that A-Rod may have been having affairs throughout their time as husband and wife, the baseball player feels that these allegations have no relevance since Florida is a no-fault divorce state. As a result, Rodriguez believes that his wife's claims about his affairs are "immaterial and impertinent."

The filing, which occurred in the Miami-Dade Circuit Court, also says that Rodriguez will pay for all the expenses incurred for their two young daughters. The baseball player also wants parenting time with his children. But what about the couples other assets, like their $12 million home in Coral Gables, Florida, their cars and other mutual assets? Rodriguez believes that the pair's prenuptial agreement, signed in 2002, should help the court to determine who should get to keep what and how their property should be divided.
