Jay-Z Teaming with Kanye West on Next Album
1-Aug-2008

The rapper is also working with Timbaland, and possibly his other producers as well.
Although Jay-Z's last album, American Gangster, was considered some of his finest work, the rapper is changing things up and working with Kanye West, in addition to Timbaland (who was rumored to be the sole producer on Jay's next album).
In fact, Jay said that his next album is more than just trying to make good music, it's a competition between his producers.
"I'm a person that works off music," he said in an interview with Rolling Stone. "If Timbaland makes ten great tracks then he produces the album, if Kanye West makes ten great tracks then he produces the album; if he makes three, I'll take three. I let the music dictate the direction."
He went on to say, in response to reports that said Timbaland would be the sole producer, "You know I love Timbaland, he is like a brother to me, but until the music is done, it's premature."
With the way that Jay-Z works in the studio (he reportedly recorded The Blueprint in three days), the album could depend solely on how quickly Timbaland and West make their tracks and play them for Jay to determine when the rapper's next album will be set for release.
