While "The Mummy" may not do so well in the box office, according to critics, Michelle Yeoh's performance is the silver lining of the film.

While the latest installment of The Mummy may not have done so well on the critics' scales, the performance of Michelle Yeoh certainly gave them something to commend, reports Reuters.

The 45-year-old stars in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor as a Chinese sorceress, Zi Yuan. Zi, along with Rick O'Connell, played by Brendan Fraser, must put the emperor back in his grave after he rose from a death put upon him by Zi's curse 2,000 years ago.

"It's a small, but important role," Yeoh says about her character in the film. "She was so much about being one with the world and Mother Nature, and there was a certain amount of understanding in her that you could see behind her eyes."

Yeoh began her acting career in the U.S. as the Bond girl in 1997's Tomorrow Never Dies. She then moved on to roles in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Memoirs of a Geisha.

Although the newest Mummy adventure only scored an 11 percent positive on film reviews, according to Reuters, Yeoh's role sat nicely with the critics.

"Best of all is Michelle Yeoh," Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times wrote, "who radiates integrity in every role she takes on and who holds our attention as a powerful sorceress."
