McCain Makes Appearance in San Diego to a Biker Crowd
According to the Los Angeles Times, Republican presidential nominee John McCain made an appearance at San Diego's 68th annual Sturgis Rally on Monday to a very warm reception from the thousands in attendance.
The Sturgis Rally is the United States' largest biker convention and the Republican candidate appealed to the fans by comparing his appearance to Obama's recent outdoor speech that was given in Berlin.
After criticizing his opponent's alleged drawing of hundreds of thousands of people to his recent speech, McCain drew a deafening ovation from the bikers when he mentioned that he preferred the roar from 50,000 Harley Davidson bikes any day to hundreds of thousands in Berlin.
McCain is the first presidential candidate in U.S. history to make a campaign appearance at the Sturgis Rally, according to the Los Angeles Times.
However, thousands of bikers who attended the event apparently skipped the Republican's speech in order to go to one of the local tattoo parlors, bars or separate events that were occurring at the biker convention.
Amongst the popular topics that McCain addressed in his brief speech was currently astronomical gas prices, his appreciation for how bikers symbolized freedom, the war in Iraq and how Barack Obama is attempting to become a celebrity.
