DEA Issues Subpoena Forcing Olsen to Talk
As Heath Ledger continues to shock audiences around the world with his portrayal of the psychologically twisted Joker in The Dark Knight, authorities are working tirelessly to clear up some of the mystery surrounding the actor's untimely death.
The main question to be answered involves the means by which Ledger acquired the prescription drugs that killed him. According to Access Hollywood, traces of Oxycodone (OxyContin) and hydrocodone (Vicodin) were found in the actor's system. It was later found that it was the combination, rather than the quantities of these drugs, that killed the star. The DEA's suspicion that the drugs were obtained illegally adds a new dimension to the investigation.
Full House star Mary-Kate Olsen has found herself at the center of the investigation. Olsen was the first person Ledger's masseuse called once she discovered the body. The actress immediately called her private bodyguards to rush to the scene.
So far, Olsen has refused to talk without immunity, despite her representative's assurances that they "have provided the government with relevant information," reported Access Hollywood.
As a result, the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration office in Manhattan has issued a subpoena that would require Olsen to speak before a grand jury, should her attempts at immunity fail.
