Morgan Freeman Getting Divorced

According to a new report, actor Morgan Freeman is in the process of divorcing his wife of 24 years, the New York Daily News reports.

The Dark Knight actor's business partner, Bill Luckett, broke the news of the possible divorce earlier this week. Speaking to the entertainment television show, Access Hollywood, he revealed that Freeman and his wife, Myrna Colley-Lee, "are involved in a divorce action."

The news comes as a surprise, as Freeman and his longtime wife had previously been seen as a success story, with most Hollywood marriages not making it these days. The actor, 71, dated his wife for eight years before marrying her in 1984. He had two children from previous relationships.

Freeman has been making headlines lately. In addition to news of his divorce, the Academy Award winner was involved in a serious car crash earlier this week in which he broke his arm and elbow as a result. His passenger at the time of the crash, Demaris Meyer, 48, is reportedly a friend of the actor's soon-to-be ex-wife, yet it remains unclear as to exactly why the two were traveling together the night of the accident.

When asked for a statement about the status of his marriage on Wednesday, Freeman's publicist had no comment.
