Morgan Freeman Released from Hospital
Morgan Freeman was released from Elvis Presley Hospital in Tennessee today after suffering multiple fractures as a result of a car crash Sunday, People reports.
The 71-year-old actor was upbeat in a statement released by his rep.
"I'm doing very well. I feel real good," Freeman said. "I just really, I thank the staff at Elvis Presley and many, many thanks to my many well-wishers. It's great to know people care about you."
Freeman was driving in Mississippi's Tallahatchie County late Sunday night with his female business partner, Demaris Meyer, when the accident occurred, causing the car to flip over. Rescuers used the jaws of life to pry Freeman and Meyer from the vehicle.
Meyers, 58, was registered as the owner of the 1997 Nissan Maxima that Freeman was driving at the time of the crash.
Freeman's attorney, Bill Luckett, said that the actor will have to wear a neck brace for six to eight months. "The doctors have said it will be six months to a year before he plays golf again. He hates that," Luckett added.
Earlier Thursday, Freeman's attorney confirmed that The Dark Knight actor was divorcing Myrna Colley-Lee, his wife of 24 years. Following the news of their divorce, speculation arose as to a possible romantic relationship between Freeman and Meyers, the passenger in Sunday's crash.
Luckett was quick to quash any assumptions at the nature of the relationship, saying of Meyers, "She's just a wonderful lady. There's no juice there. There ain't any juice."
