Court Date Set for Blonsky's Father
The father of Hairspray actress Nikki Blonksy is due at a court in Turks and Caicos on Friday for a hearing that stems from his arrest following an airport brawl, People Magazine reports.
The actress's father, Carl Blonksy, was charged with grievous bodily harm-a felony in Turks and Caicos-and has been jailed since the fight broke out on July 29. His bail will be addressed at his hearing.
Nikki, 19, and the other participant in the fight, America's Next Top Model contestant Bianca Golden, were also arrested, but as of now, both remain free on bail.
Local police claim that the fight between the Blonsky and Golden families started in the departure lounge of the Providenciales International Airport after both groups had gone through security.
Blonksy and Golden were charged with actual bodily harm, which carries a maximum sentence of two years. Blonsky was also charged with common assault, which could carry a 90-day maximum term.
Nikki Blonksy is due in court in December, and is not expected to attend her father's hearing.
Friends of the actress have reached out to defend her character after the fight. Hairspray costar Brittany Snow called Blonksy's family "amazing," in a statement to People Magazine.
