Bernie Mac Dies at 50

Comedian Bernie Mac suffered from pneumonia complications.

Bernie Mac, known for his stand-up comedy and roles in films such as the Ocean's series and Bad Santa, as well as his role as a foster father on The Bernie Mac Show, died Saturday in Illinois at the age of 50.

Mac's publicist, Danica Smith, said the cause of death was complications from pneumonia.

In 2001, Fox took on The Bernie Mac Show. The show was an unconventional family. Mac played the role of a married comedian with no children who takes in his sister's three kids while she enters a drug-treatment program.

The show ran for five seasons, allowing Mac to secure Emmy awards for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
