DVD Dribble
11-Aug-2008
Written by: Steve Ruback

This edition of the DVD Dribble features three recent comedy releases.

Blue Collar Comedy – Next Generation

With the original members of the Blue Collar Comedy tour venturing out in their own individual directions, it’s time for a new generation of comedians to step in and attempt to entertain their target audience in the same manner as their predecessors.

Original Blue Collar Comedy icon Bill Engvall hosts a show performed in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace, featuring the new Blue Collar quartet. The new comedians, John Caparulo, Jamie Kaler, Reno Collier and Juston McKinney, do their best to continue the Blue Collar tradition of nonstop laughs and entertainment.

This Blue Collar Comedy release is currently available for purchase at retailers nationwide.

John Oliver – Terrifying Times

This comedy DVD release features John Oliver, one of the most prominent correspondents on the Comedy Central television program, The Daily Show, performing his latest comedy act in concert.

During his performance, the comedian provides a tremendous amount of humor while addressing such topics as the government’s treatment of African-Americans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, fair trade and the correlation between the British Empire and America.

Terrifying Times is a must-own for all followers of The Daily Show as well as fans of Oliver’s comedy act. This Dakota Pictures release was released for purchase back in April and can be found at retailers throughout the country.

Son of Rambow

This DVD release features two young boys who decide to remake their own version of Rambo: First Blood, after watching the film together. However, this comedy illustrates much more than random spoofs of the ‘80s film as it does a terrific job of displaying the boys’ ambitions and imaginations.

Throughout their journey, which consists of the boys attempting to keep their mutual partnership a secret from their community as well as concocting elaborate schemes in order to create their film, they develop a strong friendship as well as popularity.

Son of Rambow is rated PG-13 and like John Oliver’s Terrifying Times DVD, was released back in April and is available for purchase at various retailers nationwide.
