Jack Black Scared During Filming

Insects, bruised ribs, jungles . . . oh my!
The new movie, Tropic Thunder, may be causing controversy with disability advocacy groups, but during filming, actor Jack Black had other problems, WENN reports.
The funnyman was not all that fond of their Hawaii jungle filming locations, fearing the insects, having heard stories about a man-eating centipede. “There are creepy crawlies in there and apparently they got real dangerous centipedes. You think it's gonna be a fun video game but real centipedes, if they bite you, it's like getting shot with a bullet; it's that painful!” Black recalls. And it was not easy to fight off the allusive arthropods. “The nooks and crannies, where they hide, are impossible to find,” says Black.
However, Black soon had other problems on the set and at least his fear of centipedes served as a distraction. Recalls Black: “I bruised my rib and you know how that goes; if you get a rib bruise it lasts for about six weeks of not being able to breathe all the way in. It's such a drag.” And not being able to breathe was a slight problem, considering Black’s character was to carry a heavy gun, whilst shooting, diving, and running all about the jungle.
Tropic Thunder, which also stars Ben Stiller, opens on August 13.
