12-Aug-2008
Written by: Steve Ruback

This edition of the DVD Dribble features eight TV show releases.

Wayside School: Season One

Wayside School is an animated comedy series specifically targeted to appeal to children, which is evident due to the fact that it airs on Nickelodeon. However, it manages to provide entertainment for the entire family due to its unique classroom comedy that will have parents of all ages reminiscing about their childhood days.

The show’s first season follows the adventures of Todd, a new student who must adapt to his new surroundings. His classroom is located on the top floor of the massive 30-story building. The school these students attend is unlike any other you have ever attended or heard of.

Falling asleep in class is encouraged by professors due to the benefits of imagination exercises, and winners of class elections result from dodge ball games.

This Paramount Pictures television series release is scheduled to hit stores on August 19.

Transformers Animated: Season One

Like Wayside School, the major target demographic for Transformers is children across the country. However, this animated comic series DVD release is sure to draw numerous purchases from life-long followers and fanatics of what is undeniably considered one of the most popular comics of all-time.

With nearly five hours of footage to entertain fans of all ages, Transformers Animated: Season One is sure to capture the undivided attention of its viewers and captivate their senses with its mind-blowing visual creativity.

Transformers Animated: Season One, an unrated Hasbro studio release, is scheduled for an August 19 release date.

Perry Mason: Season Three, Vol. 1

Long before currently popular mystery/drama programs such as Law and Order and CSI developed into overwhelmingly successful television shows, Perry Mason earned a tremendous amount of respect and notoriety throughout the industry for its quality story lines and witty intellect.

Mason’s character was an intelligent, resourceful attorney who possessed the ability to entertain viewers without the utilization of vulgarity or raunchiness; two characteristics widely seen on just about every wildly popular program currently on the air.

Perry Mason: Season Three, Vol. 1, a Paramount studio unrated release, will be available for purchase nationwide on August 19.

Dexter: The Second Season

The second season of one of the most critically acclaimed programs on cable television is about to come out on DVD next week. Showtime’s Emmy and Golden Globe nominated show, Dexter, is known for its nonstop action and compelling tension between various characters.

It features the show’s main character, Dexter, frequently involved in the murdering of various villainous individuals such as drug dealers, child molesters and vicious killers. He accomplishes all of this while having to elude the police, endure the harsh reality of drug abuse and a fragile relationship with his girlfriend.

This DVD release provides you with four separate discs of footage from the hit Showtime series’ second season and it is scheduled to hit stores on August 19.

Gossip Girl: The Complete First Season

Young women across the country appear to have swung their attention completely from their once beloved Sex and the City television sitcom to this ever-popular program, which seems to have left the female demographic utterly obsessed with the nonstop scandal, drama and romance featured on the show.

Gossip Girl was created and based on a series of 11 novels written by Cecily von Ziegesar and it has drawn a cult-following from women all across the nation due to its controversial nature and juicy story lines.

Gossip Girl’s first season, arguably the most highly anticipated television series DVD release of 2008, is scheduled to hit stores on August 19.

Married with Children: The Complete Ninth Season

With the recent breast cancer diagnosis of prominent cast member Christina Applegate, what better way to commemorate her career (despite the fact that it is thankfully not considered life threatening due to early detection) than to purchase the ninth season of Married with Children on DVD?

This groundbreaking, influential sitcom lasted a remarkable 11 seasons in an era when many shows did not possess close to the same lasting power. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to capture all of the Bundy family’s hilarious shenanigans on DVD.

The ninth season of this timeless comedy series is scheduled to be made available for purchase on August 19.

The Untouchables: Season Two, Vol. 2

This television program had the daunting task upon its creation to replicate the spellbinding, epic intensity and passion behind the acting from the timeless movie that chronicled the aspirations of gangbuster Eliot Ness in his attempts to take down the legendary Al Capone.

Though the television series was highly fictionalized, particularly in the characterization of Ness who was considered to have been depicted drastically different on the program in comparison to historical reality, it is still regarded as an entertaining show. largely due to its throw-back nature.

Four discs are contained in the packaging for this upcoming DVD release, scheduled to be made available for purchase on August 26.

Everybody Hates Chris: The Third Season

Everybody Hates Chris was originally viewed as a deceptive success when it first aired and it has since become a critically acclaimed, Emmy nominated comedy television sitcom.

The show revolves around the everyday life of a 15-year-old ninth grader by the name of Chris, whose character is based on the youth of prominent comedian Chris Rock.

He not only faces the everyday problems of going through life as a teenage boy, but he is also an African-American student attending an all-Caucasian school.

Chris has an incredible tendency to endure circumstances that end up backfiring, regardless of how promising they once seemed to be.

This unrated release will reportedly contain over seven-and-a-half hours of footage from the program’s third season and is scheduled to hit stores on August 26.
