Sheriff's Office Reports Isaac Hayes Died of Stroke

According to the Associated Press, authorities in Memphis, Tenn. state that Isaac Hayes died due to a stroke. Hayes was found unconscious in his Memphis home on Sunday.

Steve Shular, spokesperson for the Sheriff's Department, told reporters Tuesday that the paperwork filed by Hayes's physician, Dr. David Kraus, listed stroke as the cause of death.

Shular notes that an autopsy has not been performed yet and no official cause has been released by the Medical Examiner's office. A death certificate has not been issued by the Memphis Health Department at this time.

Hayes was found lying beside his treadmill when family members arrived at his house. According to his family, the treadmill was still turned on. Relatives mentioned that Hayes was under a doctor's supervision.
