Ed McMahon Have No Fear, Donald Trump Is Here

Longtime TV personality Ed McMahon faced foreclosure, but may have a savior in the form of mega-developer Donald Trump.

Donald Trump is currently at the center of a deal which, if all goes well, will allow him to purchase the home of television personality Ed McMahon, reported the Los Angeles Times.

Trump, however, will not be buying the property for himself. Instead, the real estate mogul will purchase the property and lease it back to McMahon, who was facing foreclosure within two weeks.

The Beverley Hills home will be purchased for an undisclosed amount, and negotiations still have a while to go, but one thing is certain: "The Donald" is prepared to do whatever it takes.

"When I was at the Wharton School of Business, I'd watch him every night," Trump told the Times. "How could this happen?" He later added that it "would be an honor" to help out McMahon.

According to the Times, the 85-year-old, who became famous for his work on television's Who Do You Trust? and the Tonight Show, defaulted on $4.8 million in mortgage loans. McMahon said he ran into financial trouble when an 18-month-old neck injury prevented him from working.

"I don't know the man, but I grew up watching him on TV," said Trump, who hopes to acquire the six-bedroom, five-bathroom Beverly Hills property.

According to public records, McMahon purchased the house for $2.6 million in 1990, but while it was at one point listed at over $7 million, it now stands at only $4.6 million, reported the Times.

The television icon has lived in the house for 18 years and, thanks to Trump, might be able to enjoy a few more.
