Obama Expected to Name His Running Mate Later This Week
USA Today is reporting that Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama is expected to inform our country's voters later this week of who will be his running mate in the upcoming general election.
Various political analysts have stated their belief that Obama will likely select a candidate with a quality track record in relation to foreign policy who possesses an ideal amount of political experience in order to offset two of his glaring weaknesses.
Republican presidential nominee John McCain has targeted those two alleged weaknesses throughout the past couple of months in his campaign speeches as well as his advertisements, and his criticisms have only intensified as of late.
USA Today listed three of his top contenders for the vice presidential position earlier today. They mentioned Indiana Senator Evan Bayh, Virginia Governor Tim Kaine and Joseph Biden, a senator from Delaware as three of his most likely candidates.
Bayh and Biden would offset Obama's campaign weaknesses of lack of experience and foreign policy, respectively. On the other hand, Kaine is an interesting dark horse candidate due to the fact that Virginia is certain to be a crucial state in the general election and those electoral votes will be key in determining the victor.
