Jessica Simpson: A Healthy Drinker

Simpson to be spokeswoman for Dallas-based brewery.
Jessica Simpson has signed on as the face of Dallas’s Stampede Brewing Company, E! News reported. According to E!, in exchange for her appearance in ads for the company’s new Stampede Light Plus beer, the Texas native will become a 15 percent owner of Stampede Brewing. However, the New York Daily News reported that Simpson herself had purchased the 15 percent stake. Her rep told the Daily News that the pop/country singer liked the beer so much on first tasting it that she arranged a meeting with the company’s founder. According to the Associated Press, Simpson explained her new business venture as combining her healthy lifestyle and her entrepreneurial drive. She is apparently “always looking for ways to diversify my portfolio with good ideas and good people.” The Daily News noted that Stampede Light Plus is being marketed as a “low-carb, low-calorie brew” that contains B vitamins and only 115 calories in a serving. If the beverage is being directed at active consumers, then Simpson is surely a role model. Her new advertising commitments come on the heels of a recently completed country music album, set to debut in September, the Daily News reported. Additionally, Simpson is still at work on her clothing line and has for awhile now been spokeswoman for the acne-fighting face wash, Proactiv.
