Hollywood Makeup Master Found Dead in Apartment
Hollywood faces may not shine so brightly now that the man who kept them beautiful is gone. Paul Starr, the makeup artist to stars from Jennifer Aniston to Jessica Alba, was found dead in his apartment Wednesday. Friends had reported not hearing from him for several days, and police had to break down the door of his apartment to find his body, RTE Entertainment reported. Cause of death is still unknown.
Starr's career in Hollywood lasted over 20 years, fostering lasting connections with many of his clients. He worked on film sets for Spike Lee and Tim Burton, and collaborated with fashion icons Jean Paul Gaultier and Dolce & Gabbana. Not just working with movie stars, his "reveal rather than hide" approach also adorned the faces of musicians like Mick Jagger and Joni Mitchell.
His 2005 book, Paul Starr on Beauty: Conversations with Thirty Celebrated Women, featured a bevy of Hollywood's A-List praising his techniques. In it, Jennifer Garner glowed, "He's done my face a thousand times and never repeated a look. I have never felt more like the best version of myself than when Paul has made me up."
More than just an employee, though, the intimate time Starr spent up close and personal with stars led to deeper connections. Angelina Jolie wrote in the book, "We talked about everything but the photo shoot; global issues, babies and human rights."
