Jonas Brothers Soar to the Top of the Charts

A Little Bit Longer hits number one, but it could have done better.

Teen sensations The Jonas Brothers recaptured the limelight again this week as their latest album found its way to number one on the Billboard Top 10.

The band has been touring tirelessly around the country to promote their album, and their two back-to-back sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden are just one indication of the reception the brothers have had.

The Jonas Brothers released A Little Bit Longer this week under the Disney-owned Hollywood label, and saw their latest release soar to the number one spot. As if anyone predicted otherwise.

But even with this achievement under the band's collective belt, the album did not do as well as expected. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the record sold 517,000 copies, which was actually less than much of the music industry had anticipated, reported the New York Times.

Despite this, A Little Bit Longer was still strong enough to win the title of third-best opening week sales of 2008. Compare that with the brothers' previous release, Jonas Brothers, which went only as far as number 10, selling 31,000 copies.

The Jonas Brothers were also successful further down the chart this week with 50,000 copies of Disney's Camp Rock soundtrack being sold, reported the Times. The brothers, who also star in the film, helped it reach number eight on the chart.
