First ever Outdoor Lands Music and Arts Festival
The three day long event hauled in over 100,000 people on Friday and Saturday, according to sfgate.com. The first night, 60,000 people showed up to see Beck and Radiohead, says concert organizers.
“So many fans flowed into Speedway Meadow to see Beck that the passageway between the fields hit gridlock and some enterprising patrons pushed down the fences, which were restored this morning,” reported sfgate.com.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers graced an older, calmer crowd with their company Saturday. The performance, though, had a bit of a late start, which made the 65 performances on six stages a little bit more of a challenge.
Along with these bands, hip-hop, Latin, Reggae, Folk, and rap artists also performed along the 80-acre festival area, says sfgate.com.
Fancy concession stands serving oysters, sausage sandwiches, and wine covered the site, along with environmental group tables and a Microsoft tent editing and printing out pictures of the crowd.
The concert was so well attended and the guests were so excited that sfgate.com referred to the festival as a “mini-Woodstock for the public transit set.”
