Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton Break Engagement

The couple, who have been on and off for years, say that they "have amicably ended their engagement."

Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton have been in an on-and-off relationship for years but it seems that the "off" may be a little bit more permanent this time. Sheridan, Edie on Desperate Housewives, and Bolton started dating in 1992. Their first relationship lasted five years. Then, after an eight year break, they started dating again in 2005 right after Sheridan broke up with her fiance, Niklas Soderblom. After about a year, in March 2006, the two announced their intention to wed.

The "disengagement" is a bit of a surprise considering Bolton's comments about the relationship only a couple years ago. "Nicollette and I are very serious about each other. I am very committed," Bolton said to the New York Daily News in January 2006. He added, "It is a very special time in my life. I have a good feeling about the future."

Both Sheridan and Bolton have been married in the past. Sheridan was married to Harry Hamlin from 1991 to early 1993. Bolton was married to Maureen McGuire from 1975 to 1990 and the two have three children.
