Neil Diamond’s Voice Not Crystal Clear
27-Aug-2008
Written by: Mike Harwood

Neil Diamond offers refund after raspy performance.

Singer Neil Diamond was diagnosed with acute laryngitis yesterday after a sub-par performance at Ohio State University on Monday.

Concertgoers say Diamond, 67, gave no explanation for his raspy inflection during the performance and left many fans disappointed. Some Ohioans actually left the show early due to the lackluster singing quality.

Diamond, perhaps best known for his hits “Sweet Caroline” (which resurfaced on a national level when Caroline Kennedy spoke at the Democratic National Convention) and “America,” was reportedly apologetic on his Web site and offered refunds to concertgoers if requested.

“I haven't let you down before and I won't let you down now,” writes Diamond on his Web site regarding the matter. He has also rescheduled upcoming performances until his voice fully heals.
