Investigation Threatens Snoop Dogg’s Australian Tour

An investigation by the Australian Immigration Department into rapper Snoop Dogg’s criminal history has placed his anticipated Australian tour into jeopardy.
Due to an investigation of his criminal history by the Australian federal government, rapper Snoop Dogg’s Australian tour is in jeopardy, News.com.au reports.
Last month, Dogg, whose real name is Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr., applied for a visa to Australia for a planned tour in October with fellow rapper Ice Cube.
Last week, the Immigration Department gave provisional approval for the visa; however, the tour seems in doubt after the department today stated that it was carrying out a full assessment of Snoop Dogg's character before granting a visa.
A department spokesman stated that provisional approval was granted after a preliminary assessment of Snoop Dogg's character.
He said, "That process is in line with the procedures established by the previous government on the consideration of visa applicants."
"Mr. Broadus has not been granted a visa, there are further steps required beyond character assessment before a visa is granted."
"The department has now decided to do a full assessment of the character of Mr. Broadus."
According to the Immigration Department, each application is assessed on its merits and it was making a more thorough assessment of the rapper's character, but denied that it was in response to complaints from victims of crime groups.
Snoop Dogg withdrew his application for a visa to Australia last year after failing to pass the character requirements for a visa, by pleading no contest to gun and drug charges in the United States.
