Chanel Biopic to Be Released Next Year

Chanel biopic set for 2009 release.
Variety is reporting that a biopic about fashion maven Coco Chanel will be released in 2009.
The biopic, entitled Coco Avant Chanel, is being produced and financed by Warner Brothers. The film will star Amelie lead Audrey Tautou, with production scheduled to start in Paris on Sept 15. Tautou’s commitment to the film was announced at the Cannes Film Festival last year.
Coco Avant Chanel will shoot over a 12-week period with a scheduled release date sometime in 2009.
The screenplay, written by Anne Fontaine and Camille Fontaine, will be based on the Chanel biography, L’Irreguliere, written by Edmonde Charles-Roux.
Dresses from the Chanel collection will be used in the film, while House of Chanel’s art director Karl Lagerfeld will supervise the recreation of various Chanel costumes and accessories.
