Michael Phelps to Host SNL
28-Aug-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril

Phelps won eight gold medals in the 2008 Olympics.

Michael Phelps will appear on NBC on Sept. 13 for the 34th season premiere of Saturday Night Live.

Phelps will make his acting debut in the same show in which Lil' Wayne, who Phelps has said he listens to before some of his races, is to perform.

NBC seems to turn to athletes and big rap stars to bring in ratings in their season openers. Specifically, this trend refers to last season's season premiere episode that saw LeBron James host with Kanye West as the musical guest.

Phelps will appear on NBC before Sept. 13, when he appears with Jay Leno on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. No word if Lil' Wayne will be on with Leno as well, although we're not counting on it.

Phelps was also the big reason why NBC went out and bought the rights to the 2009 World Swimming Championship, in which Phelps is scheduled to compete.
