David Duchovny Addicted to Sex
David Duchovny, 48, best known for his role as Fox Mulder on The X-Files, entered rehab on Thursday for sex addiction, reports People.
In a statement released by Duchovny's attorney, he says his decision to enter the facility was voluntary.
A married man, he and his wife of 11 years, Tea Leoni, have two children together.
"I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family," said Duchovny.
It may be a case of life imitating art, as the actor currently plays a womanizer on the Showtime hit, Californication, which he won a Golden Globe for earlier this year.
Or maybe it was just a case of researching a role that got out of hand. Either way, he has proven his skills at portraying a sex-obsessed character.
"All of us at Showtime wish David and his family the best during this very private time," said Richard Licata, the network's executive VP of Corporate Communications.
Showtime will begin airing the second season of the show on Sept. 28.
After all of those years of being teased by Scully, he can hardly be blamed for his actions.
