Van Halen Tells McCain to Back Off "Right Now"
Well, I guess we all know who Eddie Van Halen's voting for in the presidential election, or, at least, who he's voting against. Earlier today, August 29, 2008, John McCain was speaking to an audience assembled in Ohio. It seems that during his entrance, though, he used Van Halen's "Right Now" to help him come out to the stage. The problem is, Van Halen's management says, "Permission was not sought or granted nor would it have been given."
Apparently, using this Van Halen song for political purposes is not a new political idea. President George W. Bush used the song during his 2004 re-election campaign. This is strange since the band's publicist assures that, "The Band is not political in nature, and has not and will not be throwing their support behind either presidential candidate."
