Now America can claim funnyman Carrey as its own.
Actor and comedian Jim Carrey is now officially a United States Citizen. Carrey, who was born in Canada, claims his decision to attain dual citizenship stems from his love for the country that helped him achieve his dreams, according to CBC News.
But fear not Canada, "I have no intention of giving up my Canadian heritage, and all those who loved and supported me," said Carrey in a statement. "My upbringing in Canada made me the person I am. I will always be proud to be a Canadian."
"The Mask" hero, who was recently featured in "Bruce Almighty" and "Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind," cited wanting to vote in the upcoming presidential election as another reason for his quest for citizenship, according to CBC News.
