Amy Winehouse Faces Legal Trouble for No-Show
Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse was a no-show at Paris's Rock en Seine music festival on Friday, where she was supposed to be headlining, according to E! Online. Now, the organizers of the event are threatening legal action.
The singer cited the usual suspect, an unspecified illness, as the cause for her absence just hours before she was scheduled to appear.
The show's organizers claim they were only given two hours notice that their headlining act would not be performing as scheduled, and they were unsatisfied with Winehouse's illness excuse.
The festival's Web site had a message for disappointed concert-goers, as well as Winehouse's legal team: "Because of the conditions of this cancellation, the festival has taken the decision to start legal proceedings. . . . We have still not been given any explanation of the exact reasons for her absence."
The Web site also apologized to ticket holders for the no-show, saying that they "shared in the disappointment."
Winehouse's reps have yet to comment on the pending legal action. On Friday, her rep said that the singer "was regrettably unable to perform . . . due to illness."
The singer is scheduled to perform this Saturday at England's Bestival Festival on the Isle of Wight.
