If you have ever seen Deal or No Deal, it might seem amazing that someone actually won the $1,000,000 grand prize.
But Jessica Robinson, a housewife and mother of one and who is expecting her second child at the end of August, did just that.
In addition to being the first one in 246 episodes of Deal or No Deal to win the prize, Robinson announced to her husband, the studio audience and the rest of the world, that her next child will be a boy.
"We went into the show thinking I wasn't going to win a million," she said to the Salt Lake Tribune, where she is from. "I just had a plan, and I was going to stick to my plan."
Her plan, as those who saw the show Monday night already know, was to pick the case she thought had the million (No. 4 because her family has four people). Then she would save cases No. 26 and No. 14.
As it turned out, Robinson (when the episode was taped in July) was left with the million (No. 4), $200,000 (No. 26) and $100,000 (No. 14).
In the end it came down to No. 26 and No. 4, and because of the four people in her family, Robinson chose to stick with No. 4.
"My knees gave out a little bit because that was so much money," Robinson remembered. "I was kind of torn. My strategy had worked. At the same time, I thought, 'Do I want to risk a half a million and maybe go home with $200,000?'"
She then asked her family, and they all said, "No deal!" But she decided that it was a win-win, and went for it and won.
