Ludacris: 2 Movies, 1 Album
2-Sep-2008

Ludacris prepares for a busy fall.
Ludacris can look forward to being right at the center of the limelight this fall with the release of a new album, plus costarring roles in two different movies.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the artist is currently working on the final tracks of his sixth studio album, Theater of the Mind. The Disturbing Tha Peace/Def Jam record features songs inspired by the big screen, taking the form of short stories. Co-storytellers on the album include T-Pain, The Game and T.I., featured on the tracks “One More Drink,” “Call Up the Homies” and “Wish You Would,” respectively. Dre & Vidal and 9th Wonder are producing, and Ludacris is still hoping to get an Eminem collaboration on the album, reported THR.
The first official single off the album will be “What Them Girls Like,” which pairs Ludacris with Chris Brown and Sean Garrett on a track that draws its inspiration from Mel Gibson’s What Women Want.
Another track to look out for is “Let’s Stay Together,” which features Ludacris urging rappers to focus on their music, and not the irrelevant beef that tears the industry apart. The track features a collaboration with Three 6 Mafia’s Juicy J and DJ Paul.
"'Theater of the Mind' is all of my albums put together," said Luda. "There's the funny Ludacris, the serious Ludacris and the story-telling Ludacris as well as the movie-making Ludacris."
But Theater of the Mind is just one third of the food on the rapper’s plate this fall. He stars in Guy Ritchie’s London real-estate scammer, RocknRolla, where he will act alongside costars Gerard Butler, Thandie Newton and Jeremy Piven. Meanwhile, he will also assume the role of deputy police chief Jim Bravura in the film adaptation of Max Payne, reported THR. Amongst his costars are Mark Wahlberg and Beau Bridges.
"This adaptation [of Max Payne] takes the storyline and the characters to a whole other level," Ludacris said. "This is the first time I've played any kind of police role. It's funny . . . in most movies, Mark plays the dominant role but my character is the dominant one over Mark. That was a power thing and I absolutely loved it."
Theater of the Mind comes out October 21, insulated by Max Payne on October 17 and RocknRolla on October 31.
