Guitar Hero Lures the Smashing Pumpkins
As release dates for Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band 2 inch dangerously close to the present, more and more bands seem eager to jump on the video game bandwagon.
The latest band to make music video game news is none other than Billy Corgan's Smashing Pumpkins, who will serve as yet another weapon in the Guitar Hero arsenal as both games prepare for what will no doubt be an epic star-powered showdown.
Guns N' Roses made headlines when they announced that "Shackler's Revenge," the first single off their highly anticipated Chinese Democracy album would be released through Rock Band 2, causing Guitar Hero to pull out the big guns, adding Jimi Hendrix to their bill.
Now, the Smashing Pumpkins will follow in GN'R's footsteps, releasing their new single, "G.L.O.W.," through the forthcoming Guitar Hero game.
According to Reuters, the song will be featured in a downloadable song pack available shortly after the game's release. Pumpkins fans will also be able to play other TSP favorites like "1979," "Today" and "The Everlasting Gaze."
And if that's not enough, players will even be able to shred vicariously through a 3-D version of frontman Billy Corgan.
No matter how the battle between these two great games unfolds, one sure thing is that the consumer can only win, and that's the real beauty of all this.
