LeAnn Rimes Speaks Out About Battle with Psoriasis
3-Sep-2008
Written by: Joe Thomas

As part of the Stop Hiding campaign, country musician LeAnn Rimes talks about psoriasis.

Country music diva LeAnn Rimes discusses her battle with psoriasis. Rimes had the autoimmune disease since she was 2.

By age 6, Rimes was covered in “red scaly patches” that would dry, crack, and bleed. “Not only does that take a physical toll on your body, but it takes an emotional toll. I was very self-conscious,” said Rimes.

“It's amazing to me how many people say, ‘Oh my God, I would never ever have known.’ I was hiding it for so long,” said Rimes.

Rimes has been clear of the autoimmune disorder for the past five years due to medication, diet, and stress-management.

Rimes is talking about her struggle with the disease for the Stop Hiding campaign, a new PSA for the disease. Rimes credits her husband of seven years, Dean Sheremet, for encouraging her to speak out.
