Kelly Ripa discusses Ovarian Cancer and admiration for Christina Applegate.
On Wednesday, celebrity Kelly Ripa delivered an intimate message as she hosted an event to kick off Ovarian Cancer Awareness month.
Ripa told People magazine, "A friend was diagnosed [with the disease] and I wanted to learn more about early detection. It's my mission to get the word out."
At the Electorlux-sponsored fund-raiser, Ripa admired all of the triumphs that actress Christina Applegate has endured. Applegate has had a long battle with breast cancer and recently had a double mastectomy.
"It takes a lot of courage to come forward and help other women and to get ahead of [the disease] like that. It really made me call my doctor to get tested," said Ripa in regards to Applegate, who stars on Samantha Who?.
