New Update on Stephenie Meyer
5-Sep-2008
Written by: Dresden Caston
Author who discontinued “Midnight Sun” is now doing music videos.
A recent update on the author who disappointed most of her fans with the discontinuation of her next novel, Midnight Sun, after a draft of it was posted on the Internet before release, includes the making of music videos.
Thursday, Meyer was working with director Noble Jones on the new Jack’s Mannequin video, “The Resolution.” The singer-keyboardist of the band, Andrew McMahon, was seen driving around in a pick-up truck being followed by a mermaid, reported Latimes.com.
“Clearly I have no experience. They're just running things by me,” said Meyer. She also commented that she liked the way the video was turning out because it was exactly the way she imagined it.
In 2005, singer McMahon was diagnosed with Leukemia. Later, he received a bone marrow transplant from his sister, says Latimes.com. He says the song was primarily written around that experience.
At the time of video planning, Meyer did not know that this was the backbone of his song, but was always fascinated with mermaids and could have been inspired by one of the lines from his song, “a whole town under water.”
In the past, the author has created “playlists” to go along with her books. (They can be heard on www.Stepheniemeyer.com). A song off Jack’s first hit album in 2005, “Breaking Dawn,” is included in the finale of her book. She has used other songs as a form of expression throughout her novel writing career, says Latimes.com.
