Written by: Jessica McCumber
The star of silent movies dies at 98.
Sad news for fans of classic movies, Anita Page, an actress who was best known during the era of silent movies, has died at the age of 98, reports the Associated Press.
Page’s passing was very peaceful, reports her cherished friend of many years, Randal Malone, who said that Page died of natural causes while sleeping.
Page began her career in 1921 as an extra and moved on to work with such big names as Lon Chaney, Joan Crawford, and Buster Keaton.
Her role in Our Dancing Daughters, in 1928, as a bad girl, led her to stardom right along with Crawford whose dancing in the movie was at the time very cutting edge.
The movie was so popular that it lead Page and Crawford to star together again in two sequels: Our Modern Maidens and Our Blushing Brides.
