Duchovny Was Allegedly a Cheater
8-Sep-2008
Written by: Marissa Willman
The National Enquirer reports that “X-Files” actor David Duchovny cheated on his wife, actress Téa Leoni, multiple times during their marriage.
Though the National Enquirer hasn’t been a reputable news source over the years, its recent revelation of John Edwards’s extramarital affair and possible baby has brought the tabloid some credibility. Now, the magazine is reporting that David Duchovny, who recently entered rehab for sex addiction, was not just looking at porn to get his jollies – he was cheating, too.
Initial reports regarding Duchovny’s admitted sex addiction have alleged that the actor could not control his urges for Internet pornography and adult chat rooms. An Enquirer source alleges that the actor cheated multiple times in the flesh. The source also said that the actor only admitted to the affairs after Leoni grew suspicious and confronted Duchovny about the affairs.
“He said Téa gave him an ultimatum: Get treatment or our marriage is over. She felt it was ruining their marriage and affecting their kids,” the source said.
The actor entered The Meadows rehab center in Arizona at the end of August for a 35-day treatment program.
Prior to his marriage, Duchovny dismissed rumors of sex addiction to Playgirl magazine.
“I’m not a sex addict,” Duchovny said in 1997. “I have never been to those meetings. It’s hurtful to my family and if I was involved with a woman in a monogamous relationship, it would be hurtful to her.”
Duchovny plays a womanizer in the Showtime series, Californication. The second season of the series will premiere this month.
