Dakota Fanning Not Immune to Teasing by Peers

Just because actress Dakota Fanning has performed with such accolades as Tom Cruise, Denzel Washington, and Sean Penn, does not mean her friends don't tease her.

"I have been tormented about getting my permit by all of my friends because I'm the youngest," Fanning told People magazine at the premiere of The Secret Lives of Bees at the Toronto International Film Festival.

"They all have their permits or license and I'm like 'Yes, I too will get mine in a year. So don't talk to me about that anymore!'" said Fanning.

Fanning, only 14, says she has to get her parents' approval before getting behind the wheel.

"I think they won't let me drive right when I turn 15 - probably when I'm 15 and a half. They will see if I'm ready," she said.

The former child actress is growing up and shared her first romantic encounter with her Bees costar, Tristan Wilds.

"I wasn't nervous because we shot it at the end of filming so we knew each other really well. He's the sweetest person ever," Fanning said.
