VH1's Two New Hip Hop Shows
As part of the lead-up to its fifth annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors, VH1 is preparing to launch two brand-new shows. The programs, 100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs and VH1 Rock Doc: NWA: The World's Most Dangerous Group, will debut on September 29 and October 3, respectively, reported the Hollywood Reporter.
Counting down the best hip-hop tracks ever created, 100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs will couple each track with information about the artist, the story behind the song as well as what the artist is up to nowadays, reported THR. Expect to see interviews and performances by Public Enemy, LL Cool J, Run DMC, Salt-N-Pepa, Outkast, Eminem, and Grandmaster Flash.
VH1 Rock Doc: NWA: The World's Most Dangerous Group will delve into the history of one of the most infamous music groups of all time. Written and directed by Mark Ford, and narrated by comedian Chris Rock, the show will feature interviews with names like Ice Cube, MC Ren, Ice T, Dr. Dre, DJ Yella, and Eazy-E's widow, Tomica Woods-Wright.
This year, the VH1 Hip Hop Honors will recognize Cypress Hill, De La Soul, Slick Rick, Naughty By Nature and Too Short, reported THR. Airing on October 6, the telecast is also expected to feature guest appearances by Big Boi, Biz Markie, Bun B, DJ Kaos, Ghostface Killah, Kid Rock, MC Lyte, Lil' Jon, Lil Wayne, Q-Tip, Scarface, Wyclef Jean, Cheech and Chong, and Sanaa Lathan.
