Comedian Mocks Jonas Brothers
9-Sep-2008

Band says they aren’t offended.

You know you’ve made it big when you’re the butt of a star comedian’s jokes. The Jonas Brothers played a big role in comedian Russell Brand’s act at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, but they aren’t offended, People reported. During the awards show, Brand reportedly made several cracks about the brothers’ purity rings and pledges of virginity. Nick Jonas later told BBC radio that he and his siblings think it’s “cool” that Brand “recognizes we are gentlemen.” According to MTV, other celebrities rushed to defend the band, including Paris Hilton, who told reporters that virginity is “something cool for a kid to keep, so don’t pick on them for that.” Additionally, blogger Perez Hilton, who is known for his mocking, spoke up to say that the Jonases are “good kids” who are “promoting good values.” The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Brand himself apologized for his actions after the celebrity backlash, saying, “I've gotta say sorry because I said those things about promise rings; that was bad of me. I didn't mean to take it lightly.”
