One Tree Hill Renewed for Sixth Season
One Tree Hill defeated the odds to stay on the air for two seasons, according to creator Mark Schwahn. And it's unimaginable to think that the show was just renewed for season six.
"We didn't even know if we would get a season two," Schwahn said. "We were the lowest-rated show on any channel the week we debuted, but we were the only show to pick up every week for the next six weeks. We were so low, we were like a test pattern."
But this is where an extremely loyal fan base who's interested in the show on a weekly basis helps.
The show, which involves a slew of young people living in coastal North Carolina, airs at 9 p.m. on the CW. This past March, it reached the 100 episode mark, which means that it is eligible for syndication (meaning that Schwahn and everyone else involved in the show are in for a serious payday).
"When we were in our second and third season, it was not fathomable to me that we would be here today, in our sixth season," actor James Lafferty told MSN in an interview.
If you haven't seen the show in its soon-to-be six-year run, it's about two half brothers (one played by Lafferty, and the other by Chad Michael Murray) who are excellent basketball players. They have many battles on the court, as well as off (including for the love of some of the female characters on the show, Sophia Bush included).
Look for One Tree Hill this upcoming TV season on the CW.
