Eric Dane, aka "McSteamy" to Grey's Anatomy fans, will be busy this fall. Not only is the actor filming his fifth season of the show, set to debut Sept. 25, but he is the new proud father of a Chihuahua puppy.

On Friday, at the Sixth Annual Tom Arnold Roast, Dane, alongside his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, told People magazine, "We just adopted a little dog." The proceeds of the event sponsored the Exceptional Children's Foundation.

The couple named their newly found love, "Nellie," as in "Whoa, Nellie."

"We adopted it on the street from this adoption agency. She was thrown out of a car, so we took her," said Dane.

Dane and Gayheart have their 4th wedding anniversary on Oct. 29 but do not have any elaborate plans, and plan to "go with the flow."

"As long as we're together, it's fine. The two of us, dinner," said Gayheart.

One thing is for sure, Nellie does not count as an anniversary gift.

"It's not the anniversary present. What if the dog were the anniversary gift, I think it would be the last anniversary we have together! 'I brought you a Chihuahua,'" said Dane.

The couple said they had an amazing summer traveling and visiting family. Dr. McSteamy did not spoil the new season for fans, saying they can expect more of the same of the Emmy award winning medical drama.

"More of the same, and I think that's done well for us in the past. I think we're going to stick to that formula," Dane said.
