Britney Spears Will Revisit Court
19-Sep-2008
Written by: Alexandra Perich
Pop princess Britney Spears will return to court next month to deal with her ongoing illegal driving case.
According to SFGate.com, the trial was originally scheduled to begin in January of 2008 but a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled in favor of Spears’s conservatorship attorneys, who felt she was incapable of issuing a deposition at the time because of her greatly publicized health issues.
Judge T. K. Herman set the trial date for Thursday, October 15.
The hearing relates to an incident in August 2007, when Spears hit a parked car in a private parking lot in California's San Fernando Valley while driving without a valid license.
The hit-and-run charge, which was caught on camera, was dismissed in court in October after Spears offered a personal apology and $1,000 in compensation to the other vehicle's owner, Kim Robard-Rifkin.
However, SFGate.com reported that Spears is still facing a charge of driving without a valid California driver's license, because, when the incident occurred, she only had a Louisiana state permit.
Spears has since gotten a California state driver's license.
