Lifetime Gets Rights to “How I Met Your Mother”

Exclusive rights, at that.
If you've missed the brilliance that is How I Met Your Mother from the beginning (maybe you heard about Britney Spears being on the show, and were pleasantly surprised about its quality when checking it out), then you're in luck.
That's the case because Lifetime has bid for the exclusive rights to CBS's How I Met Your Mother, and they will begin showing reruns in the fall of 2010.
The terms of the agreement between Twentieth Television and Lifetime were not disclosed, but some experts predict that How I Met Your Mother was expected to snatch $725,000 per episode.
The reason for the extremely high price was because of the strong competition between at least six networks, looking to acquire the Neil Patrick Harris-starring show.
How I Met Your Mother actually cost more for Lifetime than the critically-acclaimed The Office, which fetched $650,000 per episode from TBS last year, if you can believe that.
The addition of How I Met Your Mother gives Lifetime a slew of strong rerun comedies, which includes Frasier, Still Standing, Will & Grace and Reba.
