TV Wrap Up: “Criminal Minds”
25-Sep-2008
Written by: Mike Harwood
Season four premiere of “Criminal Minds.”
WARNING: SPOILERS
The fourth season of the CBS crime drama, Criminal Minds, kicked off last night right where season three left off. All members of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit were getting into their black SUVs when suddenly one of them exploded. After three months of waiting the audience finally learned who bit the dust . . . no one, of significance that is.
While I’m sure all the show’s cast was trying to stay on the producers’ good sides for the past few weeks, they were (thankfully) all spared the axe. The only exception was a minor and forgettable guest role, which made an appearance at the end of season three.
The show was solid, as is usually the case with Criminal Minds, but with the hiatus, the viewers had a hard time keeping up with the details of the previous case of which this was a continuation.
It was suspenseful, but a bit too predictable in parts, especially nearing the conclusion, which involved the classic (some say cliché) renegade officer selflessly averting a bombing disaster.
The cast continues to shine and the chemistry of the show has never been stronger. The personalities of the program always shine through the sometimes morbid content the case offers and, by this season, we’ve almost completely forgotten about the absence of Mandy Patinkin.
