“American Idol’s” LaKisha Jones Getting Married
5-Oct-2008
Written by: Jessica McCumber

The single mom from the show’s sixth season will marry on Sunday.

American Idol’s LaKisha Jones is set to marry Houston financial advisor Larry Davis on Sunday, reports People.com.

Jones, who caused a stir on the show's sixth season as a single mom, is “very excited” about her upcoming wedding to be held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

"My [5-year-old] daughter Brionne is the flower girl, and she woke up this morning and said, 'We have [a few] days, Mommy, and then I can put on my dress!'"

The event has been planned out professionally and will reportedly have a theme of old-fashioned Hollywood glamour, even down to the colors of black and white.

"Rená Puebla is my planner, and she is based out of L.A., and she planned Oprah’s 50th birthday party. So everything we've done has been over the phone, over the Internet, over the mail, so I have never seen everything all together."

An understandably nervous Jones continued, "I am hoping and praying it's going to be fabulous."

When talking guest list, Jones said it was simple, "Basically, I invited everyone I wanted to." Her list reportedly includes such names as Sanjaya Malakar, Melinda Doolittle, Gina Glocksen and Haley Scarnato.

But which guest is Jones most excited about? That’s an easy one.

"Chaka [Khan] is supposed to be there to make an appearance, I am very excited about that. It's people that have gone through different things with me."

At the end of the day, the singer says, "I am glad to be me."

And with good reason, besides finding love, the star has had substantial career success since her time on Idol.

Since Idol, Jones has been on Broadway in The Color Purple, a voice coach on MTV’s Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods, and is currently doing publicity for her new single, “So Glad I’m Me,” to be released on October 21.

"I may not have won American Idol, but I have won because I'm able to provide a better life for me and my daughter and that’s all I've ever wanted."
