Sarah Palin . . . ahem . . . Tina Fey Boosts SNL Ratings

Ratings showed audiences going back to SNL Saturday.
Tina Fey may not be a regular on Saturday Night Live anymore, but her appearances spoofing vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin are taking center stage, reports msnbc.com.
The ratings for last Saturday’s show airing on NBC were up a reported 23 percent over last week's show, averaging a 7.4 rating, with 18 share in metered-market households and marking a 42 percent increase from last season’s fourth episode.
The debate skit credited with drawing viewers held nothing back, poking fun at both Biden and Palin.
Fey’s Palin had an accent, repeated the word “maverick” to describe herself and McCain, with the skit also banking on the fact that the governor was once a beauty pageant participant.
And perhaps the most memorable quote of the evening came in a reference to Palin’s pregnant daughter, Bristol. When the question of gay marriage came up, Fey said, "I believe marriage is meant to be a sacred institution between two unwilling teenagers."
Not that Biden got left out of the satire.
Jason Sudeikis’s Biden made it known again and again that he was from Scranton, Pa. and that he didn’t dislike McCain.
Guest star Queen Latifah, while acting as debate moderator Gwen Ifill, did some spoofing of her own, as her portrayal had Ifill using the airtime to promote her new book.
In the end, audience ratings are talking, and Fey as Palin has become such a hit for the show that it is rumored that she will come back weekly until the election is over.
