6-Oct-2008
Written by: Phillecia Cochran

HBO’s hit comedy will begin production in 2009.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, HBO’s hit comedy, Entourage, has been picked up for its sixth season.

News of the renewal comes just a few episodes into the show’s fifth season as well as just after a third Emmy win for Jeremy Piven.

The show’s creator, Doug Ellin, commended HBO for “allowing the show to grow and mature.” Adding, “I never imagined when we started that we would make it to six seasons.”

HBO’s West Coast head, Michael Lombardo, also stated, “‘Entourage’ is that rare phenomenon in TV: a smart, sharp comedy series that continues to evolve.”

The series is expected to begin production in early 2009 with new episodes from its sixth season airing next summer.
